Lake Street Improvements move forward
As Metro Transit is leading development of the B Line Bus Rapid Transit project, Hennepin County and Minneapolis have partnered to take a deeper look at Lake Street and work to improve the corridor alongside the B Line improvements. The work anticipated to be undertaken along Lake Street is informed by substantial previous public engagement efforts in the corridor completed as part of several projects and studies in recent years.
When the Final B Line Corridor Plan was adopted in October 2021, Metro Transit noted the potential for platform locations at three stations (Lake & Lyndale, Lake & Bloomington, and Lake & Cedar) to change in the future as Metro Transit, Hennepin County, and the City of Minneapolis continued to work together to address a broader set of goals on Lake Street. Based on the recommended improvements for Lake Street, platform locations at each of these locations will be changed with B Line platforms in the northwest and southeast corners of these three intersections. Metro Transit plans to formally adopt these changes through an amendment to the B Line Corridor Plan.
For more information about proposed Lake Street improvements, or for details about how you can participate in a virtual Open House meeting on March 16, please visit Hennepin County’s website: https://www.hennepin.us/lake-street-improvements.
