METRO D Line (Chicago-Fremont bus rapid transit)

D Line alignment map showing final stations on a line from Brooklyn Center to Mall of America

Faster transit is coming to the Route 5 corridor.

Construction of the METRO D Line bus rapid transit (BRT) project began in March 2021 and will continue in the spring of 2022. The D Line will substantially replace Route 5 with fast, frequent, and all-day service.

Watch a video about the D Line and what to expect from construction.

This 18-mile line will connect neighborhoods and destinations in Brooklyn Center, Minneapolis, Richfield, and Bloomington. Bus rapid transit brings better amenities, faster service and a more comfortable ride.

• Faster, more frequent service
• Pre-boarding fare payment for faster stops
• Neighborhood-scale stations with amenities
• Enhanced security
• Larger & specialized vehicles
