Metro Transit Campus Construction

The Metro Transit Campus, in Minneapolis’ North Loop neighborhood, is home to several Metro Transit support facilities. These include the: 

Heywood Office and Police Facility 

  • Administrative and operational headquarters

Heywood Garage

  • Bus storage and maintenance, Customer Relations, Lost & Found

Operations Support Center

Transit Control Center

  • Bus operations monitoring and support, police dispatch

The 24-acre campus is continually evolving to meet the needs of Metro Transit's workforce and the community.

The Metro Transit Office & Police Facility opened in 2019, providing a new home for the Metro Transit Police Department, along with administrative offices, employee common areas and meeting rooms. An addition to the west end of the Heywood Garage is complete, along with improvements to the garage's maintenance area. 

Minneapolis Bus Garage Construction

In May 2020, construction started on Metro Transit's sixth service garage, on vacant property immediately north of the Heywood Garage.  

Construction will take approximately two and a half years. During this time, you can expect to see an increase in truck traffic bringing supplies to or removing materials from the site. This year, crews will need to do some utility work that will require road or lane closures of 8th Avenue North, 10th Avenue North and Oak Lake Avenue. Transit and Parking

The Metro Transit Campus is located just blocks from Target Field Station, served by the METRO Blue Line, METRO Green Line, and Northstar Commuter Rail Line. Several bus routes, including routes 5, 19, 22, and METRO C Line, also serve the Metro Transit Campus. Plan your trip online or call 612-373-3333 for trip planning assistance. 

Employee parking areas are reserved for on-duty staff with priority access. Visitor and accessible parking is available in the Blue Lot, near the main entrance to the Heywood Office, off 6th Avenue North. All visitors should check in at the reception desk on the first floor of the Metro Transit Office & Police Facility.
