V.A. Medical Center Station Public Art

Each station along the METRO Blue Line not only has public art but each architectural design team included an artist. This station was designed by:

Cuningham Group, architects

Brad Kaspari, architectural design team artist

A red brick base, brick piers and a pitched green roof reflect the historic buildings of the Veterans Administration campus. A skylight becomes a beacon at night.

Landscape of Memories by Janet Lofquist

A meditative sculpture shaped of Kasota stone wedges is next to the station. It incorporates text that quietly speaks to Camp Coldwater and the sacrifices made by veterans. It says, “The waterfall’s sound faded into nothingness a long time ago… and summer grasses where warriors dream.” Bronze arcs lie in the grass, as if water ripples.
